Nordic digital bank Lunar has announced a €46 million capital increase to support its expansion across the Nordic region. Lunar provides full-service digital banking to both individual and business customers.
The funding will be used to scale Lunar's growing business banking services, further develop its lending offerings, and support entry into new Nordic markets, including Norway and Finland.
As of January 2026, Lunar's business customer base reached approximately 40,000, while adoption of paid subscription products among both consumer and business segments continues to grow. The bank now serves over one million users across the Nordics, with a steadily increasing proportion choosing paid services. Its most recent half-year results show growth across both consumer and business segments.
The round was led by a combination of existing and new investors, including existing shareholders Heartland and Orbit Alliance, as well as London-based fintech investor 100A.
Lunar holds its own banking license and operates Moonrise, its payments and banking services platform. This infrastructure allows the company to explore opportunities beyond traditional consumer and SME banking, while enabling more efficient product development and operations based on real user behavior rather than legacy systems.
Lunar founder and CEO Ken Villum Klausen commented: “Our strategy is proving effective. More users are opting for paid subscriptions, and our business customer base reached 40,000 in January. This new capital enables us to scale what works in both consumer and business banking, while accelerating our footprint across the Nordics. We have made significant progress, but our focus remains on unlocking the broader opportunity for Lunar and achieving profitability in 2026.”
Klausen added: “Banking is increasingly becoming a background service. By reducing friction and building scalable systems for consumers, businesses, and partners, banking adapts to how money is used rather than requiring users to adapt to the system.”
