Animal Resources Minister Discusses with River Nile Governor on Projects Planned for Implementation in the State
The Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources, Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, discussed with the Governor of River Nile State, Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majed, during a meeting held in Port Sudan yesterday evening (Monday), the projects the ministry plans to implement in the state, foremost among them the establishment of an Animal Production City aimed at achieving self-sufficiency and export.
During the meeting, Al-Mansouri provided a comprehensive briefing on the efforts being exerted by the ministry to advance the sector, particularly with regard to the Animal Production City in River Nile State, as part of 37 projects the ministry plans to implement.
The minister revealed that the arrival of investors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar to invest in Sudan is imminent, noting that the plan includes equipping seven export slaughterhouses in line with international standards. He also announced the establishment of dairy and feed factories, as well as artificial insemination and embryo transfer programs to increase production and productivity.
For his part, the Governor of River Nile State affirmed the state government’s commitment to establishing the Animal Production City in the state, noting that the state is free of epidemic diseases. He pointed to the construction of an airport meeting international specifications for export purposes, alongside the rehabilitation of infrastructure, in addition to coordination between the state and the ministry to bring about a qualitative shift in the animal resources sector. He also referred to a plan for rural development through the allocation of production projects.
The governor added that the state has more than 320 factories, noting that the solar energy system has been completed by 75% for agricultural projects. He called for supplying the state with veterinary vaccines and reviewed the projects owned by the state in the fields of animal and agricultural production.
