Beibu Gulf Port and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Reach Strategic Milestone
Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has achieved a major milestone in its New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (NILSTC), as the 10 millionth container was lifted at Beibu Gulf Port in Qinzhou, reinforcing the region's role as a key trade hub connecting China's inland markets to global destinations.
The container, bound for the Middle East, carried high-value exports including automobiles and machinery, while the corridor is increasingly facilitating two-way trade, bringing energy and agricultural products into China.
The NILSTC integrates rail, sea, road, and air transport, linking western China to ASEAN and global markets. Railway-sea intermodal trains now cover 18 provinces, 75 cities, and 163 stations, handling over 500,000 TEUs annually—a 3.5-fold increase since 2019. Cross-border trains to Vietnam via Pingxiang Railway Port have operated 2,900+ services.
Beibu Gulf Port operates 100 container routes connecting more than 200 ports in over 100 countries. The port cluster—including Qinzhou, Fangchenggang, and Beihai—boasts 600 million tons annual cargo capacity and 11 million TEU container throughput. Recent infrastructure investments include a 300,000-ton oil terminal and a 200,000-ton automated container terminal.

The corridor accelerates connectivity between western China and global markets, offering:
-
Efficient trade routes: Completion of Pinglu Canal will provide China's southwest and northwest regions with a cost-effective maritime link.
-
Expanded intermodal capacity: Railway-sea integration reduces transport time and cost, supporting high-value and time-sensitive goods.
-
Regional and international integration: The corridor bridges inland China with ASEAN, the Middle East, and beyond, enhancing supply chain resilience and diversification.
For global businesses and investors, NILSTC provides a strategic gateway for trade, logistics, and supply chain operations, leveraging high-capacity infrastructure and growing connectivity to access China's inland and Southeast Asian markets efficiently.
