Bangkok Bank and MIT Launch “AI & Robotics Hackathon and Competitions 2025”
Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), has officially launched the “AI & Robotics Hackathon and Competitions 2025”in Bangkok. Held under the theme “Building a Better Future for All,”the initiative focuses on the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics to address key societal challenges, including healthcare, education, and sustainable urban development. Thailand is positioned as a central hub for connecting researchers, developers, and technology professionals from across the country and the wider ASEAN region.
The programme is led by Chatchai Sophonpanich, President of Bangkok Bank, Kobsak Pootrakool, Senior Executive Vice President, together with Professor Joseph Paradiso, Head of the Responsive Environments Research Group at the MIT Media Lab, and the management team of the Cloud 11 project.
The event features three main innovation and competition formats:
AI & Robotics Hackathon, designed for graduate students and researchers to develop advanced solutions based on real-world challenges;
Robot Battle Arena, open to secondary school, vocational, and university students, aimed at cultivating engineering skills and systems thinking from an early stage;
Visionaries Pitching, a platform for young innovators to present ideas on how technology can be applied to address social issues.
The AI & Robotics Hackathon and Competitions 2025 took place from 17–19 December 2025 at Cloud 11, Bangkok, with Bangkok Bank and Cloud 11 serving as the principal sponsors. The initiative reflects Bangkok Bank's commitment, as a leading regional bank, to developing future-ready talent, supporting innovation ecosystems, and advancing research and technology toward practical application, with the aim of delivering sustainable value and broad social benefits.
