Malaysia–Hengqin Investment Promotion Conference held in Kuala Lumpur
On May 16, the Malaysia–Hengqin Investment Promotion Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Over 40 representatives of institutions from both China and Malaysia, including the Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC), the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), and local enterprises, attended the event.
The conference introduced Hengqin's favorable business environment and high-level opening-up policies, shared new economic development opportunities, and facilitated connections with Malaysian businesspeople. It aimed to promote industrial and economic cooperation between China and Malaysia, with targeted matching to Malaysia's distinctive industries and competitive enterprises.
Nie Xinping, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, said that Malaysia is an important partner in the Belt and Road Initiative and plays a key role in making the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin a new platform for China's high-level opening-up. He believed that Hengqin could provide new opportunities for deeper China–Malaysia economic cooperation, helping to embrace the next golden 50 years together.
Loo Kok Seong, President of the MCCC, expressed hope for further communication between Malaysia and China. He stated that the Chamber plans to collaborate with other Malaysian business associations to lead delegations of Malaysian enterprises to visit the Cooperation Zone, aiming to explore potential cooperation models and opportunities.
Close to Macao, Hengqin holds a natural advantage for Guangdong–Macao cooperation and serves as a crucial platform for promoting Macao's moderate economic diversification.
Since 2009, Hengqin has made significant economic achievements, with steadily improving infrastructure, deepening institutional innovation, increasing levels of openness, and rapid growth in GDP and fiscal revenue.
